Diversity In Guilford

Paul Murray’s Namibian image, Adaptation , was one of 98 diverse works in New Haven Paint & Clay Club's 125th Annual Juried Art Exhibition at the Guilford (CT) Art Center which ended in mid-June.

Bring On The Color!

Cynthia DiDonato’s yupo painting, Rocky Shore , and Allie Sabalis’s watercolor on Arches, Tulips in Glass Vase , shown left to right, were two of 65 works selected from 233 entries for the Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s (RIWS) 2026 National Show which was on view at the RIWS galleries in Pawtucket, RI, through early July. The exhibition is available online .

Additionally, Allie Sabalis achieved Signature Member status in RIWS having been accepted into three National shows.

A Connecticut Wonderland

Paul Murray’s Antarctica and Cuban images, Midnight in the Lemaire and La Historia Me Absolvera , shown left to right, are two of 104 works in the Carriage Barn Arts Center's 2026 Spectrum Contemporary Art Show: Wonderland which was on display through mid-June at the Center's gallery in Canaan, CT.

Into The Night

Barbara L. Green’s monoprint, Night , and Ann-Marie Gillett’s enhanced cyanotype, The Sound of an August Evening , shown left to right, were part of Imago Gallery’s "Nocturnal" Exhibition , which ran through mid-July, at their venue in Warren, RI.

Zebras In Plymouth?

Paul Murray’s Namibian image, Vigilant , was selected as one of about 180 photographs garnered from over 900 for Plymouth Center for the Arts' 16th Annual Fine Art of Photography which was on view through May 31st at the Center's galleries and remains available online.

Making Squares

Felicia Touhey’s lithograph with watercolor, Blondie , will be part of Wickford Art Association ’s “ Only Squares Apply” Exhibit . With an opening reception on August 8, 5-7 PM, the show runs through September 6th at their galleries at 36 Beach Street, Wickford, RI.

Taking Cuba North

Paul Murray’s Cuban image, Training for Life , is one of 99-works in the 39th Northern National Art Competition . With 635 entries from 336 artists, the show offers a diverse range of art across many media and is on display through July 31st at the Nicolet College Art Gallery in Rhinelander, WI.

Paul Murray’s images, La Revolución at Bat, The Daily Grind , and Home From School , clockwise from top left, as three of 86 works from over 800 entries for the R. I. Center for Photographic Arts' (RICPA) "Hiding In Plain Sight" Exhibition which ran through early July at the RICPA galleries in Providence, RI.

Sharing Process Worldwide

Cynthia DiDonato along with fellow Techspressionists presented her process and artwork to the American Makerspace in Qarshi, Uzbekistan, in last May. Her presentation begins at 16:35 available online .

Fostering Communications

Cynthia DiDonato's monoprint, Night Rescue , was selected for the curated Journeys Onward: Military Veterans’ Experience exhibition at New York City’s prestigious Salmagundi Club , which is on view through July. With over 100 works from 42 veteran artists, the exhibit fosters communication between and within the military and civilian communities. A Creative Way to Sketch!

Lorraine Bromley Brown will be giving a workshop on how to create a Sketchbook.

Date: Thursday, September 24, 2026
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (with a possible extension to 1:00 p.m. )
Cost: $50.00 per person

Starting a sketchbook practice is an excellent way to rapidly improve and hone your art skills. In this workshop, I will share examples of how sketchbooks can be used for studies, experimenting with different mediums, collage, composition, landscapes, still lifes, lettering, color, patterns, and textures. Drawing inspiration from nature, travel, and layout design, we will work through several morning challenges featuring demonstrations and ideas for personalizing your sketchbook.

Participants should bring a new sketchbook to class. I will email suggestions for sketchbooks and a full supply list to all participants prior to the session. I will also provide some additional supplies to share.

Additionally, all our group activities complement and enhance the exhibiting, publishing, licensing and selling activities that we do as individual artists.

Based on the group’s size and composition, we invite artists to be members. After an informal discussion about interests and expectations, those invited are asked to share a representative set of their paper-based work, a resume highlighting their artistic experience, and any other material that could assist with the group’s membership decision. Since we value exchange, collaboration, and continuity, consistent participation in our monthly meetings and group activities is an important membership commitment.
