The age-old questions of: who we are, where we come from and where are we going have defined the concentration of my work for the past 20 years. With focus on these epic questions and my ultimate challenge in defining the American Epic through the creative process, my work has reverted to an ancient reference point historically and/or personal historical reference points that are still contemporary in our western thinking today. The human condition continues to fascinate me. -Merle Mainelli Poulton
